  3. NUSA 2018 • Staff from ONS attending NUSA will be leading an In-depth training on topic(s) covered at NUSA. An example of this would be; How to increase participation with younger  people in neighborhood councils. • ONS will hyperlink conference materials on City/ONS webpage for those that couldn’t attend and are interested in reviewing the conference content.

Community Engagement Grant 2018 Total amount spent in 2017: $16,214.36 • Success Story: Grandview Thorpe Movie Night! • 2016 movie night: 60 people in attendance  2017 movie night: over 90 people in attendance!  2 people said they had gone to the movie, and then got on  neighborhood email list Since the last movie night, they had at least 5 new email subscribers  Facebook followers has increased by roughly 10% (from around 80  followers to currently 91 followers) Meeting attendance over the years has ranged from just 2 households, up  to maybe 8. At the September and December quarterly neighborhood meetings, they had 10-14 households in attendance! Other types of projects: • Door Hangers  Live Bands  Advertising  Surveys  RAC-Cards 

  5. Neighborhood Cleanup 2017 1. $184,180 spent in 2017 for neighborhood cleanup! 2. 740.16 tons of trash removed City wide!

  6. Neighborhood Cleanup 2018 • Each neighborhood will have an additional $1000.00 for cleanup for a total of $7,500 for each neighborhood! • Total amount of increased program funding for 2018: $29,000 • Funding coming from a grant. • This increased funding will last for 3 years.

Comstock: 29th & Grand – invest $40,000 for a traffic study for this corridor, $40,000. • Grandview Thorpe : West side of “D” St. from 20th to 21st – Infill sidewalks, $72,000. • Lincoln Heights: 11th/17th & Fiske, Greenway Project (wayfinding signage, sharrows • on Fiske Street and 17th Ave., marked crosswalk on the east leg of 17th Avenue and Fiske Street), $24,000. Lincoln Heights: 35th Ave & Fiske Rd. – In-fill Sidewalks (School Related Project), • $48,000. Manito Cannon Hill: Bernard St. & 18th – Bumpouts for school crossing (School • Related Project), $48,000. Manito Cannon Hill: 25th & Manito Blvd – Marked crosswalk on south side of Manito • Blvd. and 2 ADA ramps at each end of crossing, $28,000. Rockwood: Rockwood Blvd. /Sherman Ave. – Speed feedback signs, $22,000. • Southgate: E. 44th Ave. & S. Freya St. – Speed feedback signs, $22,000. • East Central: install a marked crosswalk on the South end of the intersection of 9 th • Ave and Cowley St. and to remove the ADA ramps closer to the intersection of Rockwood Blvd and 10 th Ave, $21,000.

Five Mile Prairie: Strong Road & 5 Mile Rd., Asphalt Walking Path, $187,000. • North Hill: Lacross between Wall & Normandie (Clark Park) – In-Fill Sidewalks, • $80,000. North Hill: Monroe & Heroy – update school flashing system & crosswalk (School • Related Project), $20,500. Northwest: Browne Elementary – Replace the overhead flashing crosswalk lights • with 20 MPH When Flashing lights, add 4 bumpouts at student crossing (School Related Project), $165,970. Northwest: Wellesley between Ash & Alberta – Add Hawk light, and crosswalk with • pedestrian-island between Cannon and Elm (School Related Project), $275,000. Northwest: Central Between Ash & Alberta – Infill sidewalks, $300,000. •

  11. 2018 Dates and Deadlines Community Engagement Grant Program:  Training: two time slots will be offered ( Feb 6 th & Feb 12 th , Location TBD). 6:00pm – 7:00pm  February 7, 2018 – Applications may be submitted beginning on this date  February 22, 2018 – Budget Committee begins reviewing applications  May 7, 2018 – Deadline for grant application submittal. No applications will be accepted after this date. Both initial allocation AND reallocation must be submitted by this date, although there is no guarantee of reallocation. Applications that are incomplete but submitted by the deadline will be returned and the applicant has until the 11th to correct the application.  September 21, 2018 – All receipts from grant expenditures and all city inter-fund orders are due.  September 27, 2018 – Budget Committee determines reallocation of remaining funds.  September 28 through November 15, 2018 – Neighborhood Councils and Community Assembly Committee’s spend reallocated funds and deliver all receipts and orders to the Office of Neighborhood Services by 5:00pm on November 15, 2018.  For questions on the Grant program please contact Abbey Martin, 625-6858, amartin@spokanecity.org.

  12. 2018 Dates and Deadlines Clean Up Program  Training: February 19, 2018 , City Hall, Briefing Center, 5:30pm to 7:00pm.  June 4, 2018: all neighborhood applications for cleanup are due (dates for cleanup are first come first serve).  Other Important Info : 1 st cleanup dates will begin in April. No cleanup will take place during the first two weeks of July.
