Spokane Matters 2.0 • Continue to promote engagement with the community through Summits and direct participation in projects; • Maintain website and project pages where public can access presentations, information and project updates! • Continue to generate district solutions to district specific issues in a creative way with interdepartmental staff and community stakeholders’ on-the-ground knowledge! • Create a more sustainable model that works better for volunteers- less meetings, more project-specific teamwork! • Work under the umbrella of the City’s Strategic Plan

All District Summit Kickoff! • Community stakeholders along with the Mayor’s office, City Council, City staff come together and select up to 3 projects per district and get an overview of the program and where we’re headed together in 2018! • Project teams are formed in breakout sessions at the kickoff meeting- and community stakeholders now become project specific and are integral to project success! • Community Assembly will be updated in June, once projects have gotten off the ground; • Project selection aligns with the initiatives of the strategic plan; • Reporting out occurs at the Mayor’s Quarterly Performance meetings, based on initiatives of the strategic plan; • Look forward to a capstone summit at year’s end similar to last December!   8. 2018 Dates and Deadlines Clean Up Program  June 4, 2018: all neighborhood applications for cleanup are due (dates for cleanup are first come first serve).  Other Important Info : 1 st cleanup dates will begin in April. No cleanup will take place during the first two weeks of July. Last day for a cleanup event will be October 30, 2018.  For questions on the Cleanup Program please contact Rod Minarik, 625-6737 , rminarik@spokanecity.org.

  9. 2018 Dates and Deadlines Community Engagement Grant Program:  May 7, 2018 – Deadline for grant application submittal. No applications will be accepted after this date. Both initial allocation AND reallocation must be submitted by this date, although there is no guarantee of reallocation. Applications that are incomplete but submitted by the deadline will be returned and the applicant has until the 11th to correct the application.  September 21, 2018 – All receipts from grant expenditures and all city inter-fund orders are due.  September 27, 2018 – Budget Committee determines reallocation of remaining funds.  September 28 through November 15, 2018 – Neighborhood Councils and Community Assembly Committee’s spend reallocated funds and deliver all receipts and orders to the Office of Neighborhood Services by 5:00pm on November 15, 2018.  For questions on the Grant program please contact Abbey Martin, 625- 6858, amartin@spokanecity.org.

Rod’s Retirement • Rod Minarik will be retiring from the City of Spokane. • 22 years of school, 22 years in the mining industry and 22 years with the City of Spokane. • Sad to say goodbye but looking forward to travel, and more time with his wife, children and grandchildren. • Coverage Plan coming soon! Big Shoes to Fill! Rod’s colleagues will be celebrating at the end of this month!!
