GCSEs will shape your next few steps!

  • GCSE results will shape your

son’s next few steps as a student. Most courses will look for C/ 4 + in both English and Maths, where more specific courses such as English will require 6 + or equivalent in English, or Maths would require B+ in Maths!

Why is Unifrog so important for year 11 students?

  • Attainment – students can see clearly what grades they need to achieve

at GCSE level for certain courses e.g. Management Degree at the University of Leeds you will need at least B grade, or equivalent (6), in English and Maths or Psychology at University of Bristol requires Maths, English and Science at grade B (6), but A (7) is preferred.

  • With the new A-level structure more emphasis will be placed on students’

GCSE results, as universities will not have their AS-levels.

  • Aspirations – Unifrog gets students thinking about university early,

increasing access to Russell Group universities and exploring courses they did not know about.

  • Subject guidance – be careful not to limit your choices as certain

degrees will ask for certain subjects e.g. Physics will usually require A- level (or equivalent) in Physics and at least one other science related subject or Maths, where as Pharmacy would usually require Chemistry.
