He thinks this is pretty good. 90% attendance means that he is absent from lessons for the equivalent of one half day every week . In Year 7 he missed the equivalent of four whole weeks If Simon continued this pattern then over five years he will miss the equivalent of about one half of a school year

  18. Year 8 Information Evening How can parents encourage good attendance? If you have concerns: • Keep an eye on your son’s/daughter’s look for attendance • patterns • Talk regularly with him/her about school • talk and • Only allow days at home if really too ill to listen to your attend school child • Know the timetable • telephone us • Be aware of tests and assessment • Encourage your son/daughter to catch up missed work
