- June 11, 2015 –School Board Approves Construction of the New Building
- June 23, 2015 – City Council Approves Neighborhood Recreation Center
Approach
- September 2015 – Award Project Management (PM) Contract
- January 2016 – Anticipated Architect/Engineering (AE) Award
- February 2016 – Design team begins to develop schematic designs
- March 2016 – Development Special Use Permit (DSUP) process begins
- June 2016 – School Board to approve schematic design
- Fall 2016 – Public Hearing for DSUP
- June 2017 – Construction phase begins
- Fall 2018 –School and Recreation Center open/ Ribbon Cutting

Schematic Design
- Addresses overarching project goals and requirements
- Requires a finalized program of spaces
- Respond to community concerns from feasibility study
- Architect develops minimum of (3) site plans, floor plans, and initial
elevations
- Architect performs other initial studies (environmental, geotechnical,
topographic and utility surveys, archaeological, etc)
- Consider sequencing of construction around operating facilities
- Provide narratives of design for building systems (mechanical, plumbing,

- A study of New York schools showed that
students in a Pre-K-8 school had higher academic achievement in reading, writing, and mathematics assessments.
- A Harvard study reported that in virtually all
subjects the scores on standardized test showed great academic gains.
- The personalized Pre-K-8 environment
eases the developmental challenges of students as they age, including enhanced
- utlook, self-esteem, and critical
reasoning.

Sixty-eight responses received. Spaces got a 1 for each respondent who said it was their 1st preference, a 2 for each who said it was their 2nd preference, and so on. Therefore a LOWER numerical score indicates a HIGHER level of preference.
