WARM-UPS LANE BREAKDOWN

Competition pool:

  • Lane 0 –> para swimmers
  • Lane 9 –> pace lane from starting end during all warm-up
  • Lane 1& 8 –> sprint lane - one way from the starting end
  • Backstroke ledges will be available during the last 45 minutes of the warm-up (except

Sunday). Secondary pool:

  • Lane 2 reserved for para-swimmers at all times
  • Lane 1 reserved for pace

Dive tank:

  • Blocks available for starts, one-way swimming only
  • One lane reserved for para-swimmers only

ONLY SWIMMERS COMPETING IN THE SESSION SHOULD USE THE COMPETITION POOL DURING WARM-UP

WARM-UP PROCEDURES

Violations: Swimmers witnessed entering the water in a dangerous fashion may be removed from their first event Second offense in same competition, may be removed from the remainder of the competition Permitted: kick boards, pull buoy, snorkel and stretch cords (in secondary pool during w/u only) Not permitted: fins, paddles, stretch cords in competition pool

Competition management INFORMATION

  • Over-the-top starts for Preliminaries / Clearing of the pool during Finals
  • All para-swimmers will clear the pool after each heat with two whistles by

the referee

  • Distance Events – 800 & 1500 – fastest heat swims during finals
  • Swim-offs – during the preliminary session prior to the Time Trials
  • A Finals only for para-swimmers – maximum of 3 swimmers per sport

class will advance to finals.

  • Para-swimming finalist will be determined using the British point system

READY ROOM PROCEDURES

  • Positive check in at the clerk of course during warm-ups
  • Swimmers (all A & B finalists) report to ready room 15 minutes before

scheduled start of their race

  • A finalist will be marched on and introduced while marching
  • B finalist will not be marched on and they will be introduced during the

race.

PARALYMPIC ATHLETES

  • Tapping and starting devices must be deemed safe. They can be

checked and issued with an approval sticker immediately following this Technical Meeting.

  • All medical taping is to be approved by the Referee prior to the start of

each session. Unapproved medical taping may lead to disqualification. A Referee will be available on poolside 15 minutes before the start of each session to check any medical taping.

FOREIGN ATHLETES

Olympic events

  • No foreign swimmers will be allowed to advance to an “A” Final OR seeded top 10 in a timed

final event.

  • A maximum of two (2) foreign swimmers will be permitted to advance to a “B” Final.
  • A maximum of one (1) foreign alternate for B finals will be named where applicable and will
  • nly be moved into the B Final with the scratch of another foreign swimmer.

Paralympic events

  • A maximum of two (2) foreign swimmers will be allowed to advance to an A Final.

BACKSTROKE STARTING LEDGE

  • The IT will install the device
  • The IT will also ensure the device is set at 0, initially
  • The IT will check the strapping is free of any twists or knots and also that

the wedge/ledge is sitting flat against the wall.

  • Once the athletes arrive behind the block the athlete may change the

setting and ensure it is secured into position or may remove it from the water if they do not wish to use the device. The IT may be asked for assistance.

Preliminaries and Finals Heat Sheets:

  • Available daily from the Clerk of Course
  • Posted on event website and Meet Mobile prior to each session.

Results:

  • Posted after each event on the pool deck near Clerk of Course

and on the upper stands level

  • Posted after each event on the Swimming Canada website.

TIME TRIALS

  • Entries are first-come, first serve
  • Entries will be accepted at the Time Trial Clerk of Course each morning

from 8:30am until 10:30 am

  • Each swimmer is permitted a maximum of one entry per day
  • Du

Duration of 1 Ho Hour Maximum

  • Events will mirror the preliminary session
  • No official split requests
  • Time Trials event heat sheets: available at Clerk of Course after entry

deadline, an announcement will be made.

  • After entries close at 10:30 am, any swimmer that is a no-show for their

time trial event will be fined $50.00 and be subject to all penalties guidelines as outlined in the meet package.

SCRATCH PROCEDURE

  • Deadlines:

Ø Wednesday Preliminaries:

30 minutes after the end Technical Meeting

Ø Thursday–Sunday Preliminaries:

30 minutes following the start of Finals of the previous evening

Ø Finals:

30 minutes following Preliminary events of the day (excluding Time Trials and time final events)

  • Penalties for no show (heats and finals and Time Trials)
  • Email scratches are NOT accepted

DQ’S AND PROTESTS

Di Disqualifications:

  • Disqualifications will be announced and include event number, heat

number and lane number. Pr Procedu dure for pr protests:

  • Please discuss the disqualification with the session Referee.
  • If not resolved, a written protest may be presented to the Referee. A

written protest must be presented within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the ev event ent (protest forms will be available at the Clerk of Course)

  • If not resolved after discussion of the written protest, the matter may be

assigned to a Jury of Appeal.

ACCREDITATION INFORMATION

§

Accreditation will be required to gain access to the pool deck.

§

Access to the pool will be through back stairway through the main security checkpoint.

§

ALL athletes, coaching staff and support staff must have accreditation, individuals without accreditation will not be permitted pool access.

§

Lost accreditation will be replaced at a cost of $60.00 per accreditation.

DOPING CONTROL

  • The CCES will be conducting Doping Control during the meet
  • All swimmers selected for Doping Control are required to have photo ID.

Coaches are asked to instruct swimmers to bring photo ID to the competition.

down Queen E or go up 109 and then down the hill at Walterdale.
