Do you have a clear objective (beginning and

ending).

Is there a measurable goal or objective that

can be met.

Does it require a fast response time and/or

unique response.

Does it require measuring several resources

to meet the objective.

If yes to all or the majority, than you may

have a project.

Keep it simple Beauty is in simplicity Complicated systems tend to fail Remember, a project goal beyond the

capability of a system will FAIL.

For the project goal of course. So start with

the end in mind, however that’s easier said than done. Remember, projects do not exist in a vacuum.

Flexibility, pragmatism and a eye to the

greater picture are needed at this stage. Questions to ask:

  • how does this project relate to your department and

your whole organizational goals?

  • how can you leverage and maximize your project to

meet those needs?

Control is about management but if you did

not create a flexible system at the planning stage, you will fail regardless.
