The picturesque landscape varies from the wide cultivated plains with sparse natural vegetation to the undulating uplands where wide valleys chequred with fields, with low wooded ridges and finally higher hills.

Geologists named the predominant rock formation of this region after the Gond tribes as “Gondwanas”.
