Why do we have a financial challenge? Financial pressures and demands on our services are increasing due to: • Ageing population, increases in demand led services, care for the elderly and children, schools funding, National Minimum Wage, inflationary costs www.newport.gov.uk/ budget #NCCbudget

So what have we been doing to meet this challenge? • Set up a property services • Set up a charitable trust • Reduced council staffing • We have sold land, joint venture for leisure services by one quarter in the last buildings and property we no longer use or need 5 years (staff directly employed by the Council) www.newport.gov.uk/ budget #NCCbudget
