Why do we have a financial challenge? Financial pressures and demands on our services are increasing due to: • Ageing population, increases in demand led services, care for the elderly and children, schools funding, National Minimum Wage, inflationary costs • Local authorities have faced the biggest budgetary challenges of any part of the Welsh public sector over the last decade www.newport.gov.uk/ budget #NCCbudget
