Fine Arts • Students take Studio in Art & can progress to Photography, Drawing & Painting, AP Portfolio, and others. 2016 Hudson Valley Regional Scholastic Art Awards • 94 Silver & Gold Awards • 75 works of art earned Honorable Mention • Students participate in Mixed Chorus, Select Chorus, Band, & Wind Ensemble. • NYSSMA Level 5 & 6 performances last year for all groups and individual students. • • Winter Concert, Spring Concert, Scholarship Concert, & other requested performances. • MHS Drama - annual fall play and spring musical - approximately 80 to 100 students participate per performance

  15. Athletics 2016 Recap • 21 varsity teams earned “Scholar Athlete” status (team GPA 90% or better). MHS students were part of 7 Section Titles in 2015-2016. • • Boys and Girls basketball went to the NYS Final Four. • Boys Baseball and Girls Softball were both 2016 Class B State Champions. Named a “New York State School of Distinction” for our student athlete • accomplishments in 2015-2016.

  16. Advisement • School Counselors meet with each student in 9th grade to create a PLP (Personal Learning Plan). It is reviewed annually with all students. • The PLP discussion includes information about graduation requirements, diploma types, transcripts, the PSAT, SAT, and NCAA. CTEC programs are introduced and discussed. Students take a career interest inventory based on Myers Briggs and are assisted in using the Occupational • Outlook Handbook (Bureau of Labor Statistics). This helps with career exploration. Naviance Family Connection - new this year • • Career Interest Profiler + Do What You Are / Personality Type • College and Career Searches attached to real MHS Admission data Scholarship Searches • Students in grades 11 & 12 are in the program with plans for 9 & 10 in the spring. • As students progress through school they are assisted in a post high school choice • • Further formal education - 2 or 4 year college, trade school, or ACCES-VR • Workforce Military •
