Project Background

• Purpose of the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study

▪ Evaluate and document engineering and environmental effects of widening Harborview Road

• Need for improvements

▪ Accommodate increased traffic demand, including truck traffic, generated by projected growth in Charlotte County ▪ Improve connectivity between US 41 and I-75 ▪ Enhance safety along the project corridor ▪ Improve emergency evacuation

• The Charlotte County-Punta Gorda

Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) identifies this project in their 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) Cost Feasible Plan.

• FDOT’s Five-Year Tentative Work Program

▪ Design phase funded in 2020 ▪ Right-of-way acquisition funded in 2023 ▪ Construction not currently funded
