  4. Student Meal Distribution • More than 350,000 student meals have been distributed since schools closed on March 17, making PPS the state leader in making sure students are being fed. • Fresh produce has been added to the student meals as of Monday, May 11.

  6. Student Meal Distribution • Meals are distributed every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. • The eight distribution sites are listed on the COVID-19 page of the district website. Look for the tab that says “Student Meal Distribution.”

  7. Student Home Instruction Packets All packets are available for download from the schools’ • websites. Hard copies are also available and will continue to be distributed • at the student meal sites. (Schools that get meals at the Full Service Community Center get packets at the New Roberto Clemente School.) Phase IV Packets Distribution Dates: May 12th and May 13th • Phase V Packets Distribution Dates: May 26th and May 27th •

  8. Returning Student Home Instruction Packets Packets may be returned for grading... ...at any student meal distribution site. Please clearly label • the packets with your child’s name, grade and school. ...by emailing them directly to teachers • You can also choose to turn all student packets in when schools reopen. The grade given will be an incomplete, and the grade will be revised when we return to school.

  9. Information Call Center The district launched an Information Call Center to receive questions from families and staff about matters related to the virus. The Information Call Center is able to receive questions in four languages on four separate phone lines, which are as follows: ∘ For English, call (973) 321-0609 ∘ For Arabic ( ىبرع ), call (973) 321-0610 ∘ For Spanish, call (973) 321-0611 ∘ For Bengali ( বাাঃলা ), call (973) 321-0612 Callers will receive a response from the district within 24 hours. District staff monitors messages daily Monday through Friday.

  12. Instructional Resources The District has created a tab under Covid-19 that provides parents and students with resources for Home Instruction. Some of the resources that can be found under this tab are: • Updated Remote Learning Plan • Google Meet Instructions • Parent Online Resources for all grade levels and contents • A tutorial on “The Parents’ Guide to Google Classroom” • Free online resources to supplement at-home learning materials Visit the site often as it is updated with additional resources to help support home instruction.

Student Expectations ● Student’s daily instructional time is from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm ● Utilize digital platforms ● Participate in Google classroom daily per schedule; this will be utilized as your attendance ● Complete and submit assignments as per the assignment’s due date ● Respond to all teacher emails within 24 hours ● Contact teacher when having trouble completing an assignment or if extra support is needed

Options and Ideas to ponder: Marking Period (MP) 4 Started March 17 to June 5 GRADES K- 2 : we can explore the following four levels of reporting which is standards based: ( 1 ) needs support, ( 2 ) approaching standard, ( 3 ) meets standards, ( 4 ) exceeds standard or Pass / Fail GRADES K-2 : each packet can be worth ( level 1 ) for non-submission and ( level 3 ) for submission , or (Incomplete for non-submission with a timeline)

Options and Ideas to ponder: Marking Period (MP) 4 Started March 17 to June 5 · Grades 3-12 · MP4 will consist of Academic Packets I,II,III,IV,V · Grades will be finalized June (TBD) · Grades will be based on packets Phase I,II,III, IV,V o Individual packet is worth 20 points OR o Pass (85)/ Fail (62) for all packet submission ● Incomplete for non-submission ( with a timeline ) · Final grade could be the calculation of each packet (MP4) with a final percentage added to the percentage of MP1,MP2,MP3.

Remote instruction was mandated by the NJDOE: ❖ District developed a Home Instruction (HI) and Food provision plan ➢ (amended HI plan on May 4) Academic packets began on March 17 th for both Elementary and High Schools. Phase I Day 1-20 (March 17 th ) Phase II Day 21-30 Phase III Day 31- 40 Began Google Classroom in H.S. Phase IV Day 41 – 50 Began Virtual Instruction in H.S. / some Elem.Schools Phase V Day 51 -60 Phase VI Day 61 through the last day of school

How to obtain Packets: ● Parents can download and print the packets from each school’s website ● Parents can call the Information Call Center: ○ For English, (973) 321-0609 ○ For Arabic, (973) 321-0610 ○ For Spanish, (973) 321-0611 ○ For Bengali, (973) 321-0612 Packet Drop off: ● Parents can drop off packets at food distribution sites, 90 Delaware or wait until schools reopen * grades / report card will be delayed with this choice For District information and Resources: ● Refer to District Website ( COVID-19 ) tab

  25. Graduation Update Action Taken: Met with all elementary and high school principals ● Conducted survey with students and parents on graduation ● ceremonies NJDOE has notified us that all graduations must be virtual ●

  26. Graduation Survey Results Number of Responses: 1,274: (Students - 61.2% Parents - 38.8%) Grade Level: K - 7.3%, 4th - .4%, 5th - 2.8%, 8th - 51.2%,12th - 38.3% Type of Graduation Preferred: Traditional - In person 77.4%, Virtual 22.6%

  27. Graduation The Passaic County Superintendent office has instructed all school districts to hold virtual graduations for the Class of 2020

Dances, Proms and Trips Districtwide, all dances, proms and trips have been canceled • You may be entitled to a refund of the money that you already paid to the • school for these events and activities. Please contact your school principal to find out if you are eligible for a refund. The money can be refunded the same manner as the deposit was made. For cash refunds, the following must occur: The school must retain a receipt book and each parent/student must receive a • receipt. The school must have a detailed record of the transaction and the refund • amount must agree with the transaction.
