Communication is vital

  • Planner checks –parental signatures are still required please
  • Form tutor as first ‘port of call’ –daily information.
  • Mrs South or Miss Devonish –curriculum or welfare matters.
  • Heads of subject or the class teacher –progress / grouping and subject specific information.
  • Child protection: Mrs Byrne or Ms Allen
  • Absence requests –please avoid if at all possible but contact Ms Allen, the Head Teacher, for

permission for any extenuating circumstances that arise. Absence, due to illness, as always, to be reported daily to the absence line (Mrs Day) and a letter brought in on your daughter’s return. This is vital as evidence is sometimes required by Examination Boards.

How can parents help?

Class of 2016 Class of 2017 Wrote well about poetry and themes in drama Encourage them to practice thematic questions and to avoid writing about characters as if they really exist Coped well with the unseen section Promote resilience and risk-taking: they really can do it! Underperformed when analysing their exam novel Re-reading starts now: Jekyll and Hyde/Pride and Prejudice/A Christmas Carol Three simple questions you can fire at them anytime:

  • 1. What has the writer done?
  • 2. Why have they done it?
  • 3. What are the effects on readers?
