  1. 15 th September 2015

  2. Welcome / purpose of event  Received feedback from parents – how complicated things have become  Attempt to resolve these issues  Confidence to contact those relevant to your concern.  Parental support booklet

  3. Who’ll you be meeting?  Mrs K Phillips - Head of Year 11  Miss L Banks - Head of English  Mrs L Lloyd – Head of Mathematics  Mrs D Conway – Head of Science  Mrs N Jennings – i/c Welsh Baccalaureate

  4. Pupil Targets  We set individual targets for all of our pupils.  Use FFT targets – we set the most challenging targets for our girls  Most recent set of targets were in their Year 10 report  External exams sat in June – Exam slip already provided

  5. Why is attendance important?  Research shows that just 17 days missed from school can mean a drop of a GCSE grade across ALL subjects  90% Attendance may sound good, but over a year it actually adds up half a day missed each week.  Schools are open to pupils 190 days of the year which leaves 175 days for holidays and visiting family. Holidays can no longer be authorised during the school year.  All pupils should be aiming for an attendance figure of 95% - 100%. Please help us to achieve this for you daughter.  Please contact us straight away if you have any concerns over your daughter’s desire to come to school. It is easier to solve any issues earlier rather than later.

  6. Wellbeing  Form tutors  Head of Year 11  Pastoral Support officers – Mrs Homer / Mrs Thomas  Additional external specialist support All Year 11 pupils will also have access to a mentor

  7. Mentoring  Each Form Tutor has an hour a fortnight for mentoring. All Year 11 pupils will be mentored by their Form Tutor.  Additional mentoring is in place for pupils who have been identified as borderline C/D in Maths. This mentoring will take place every week with the Form Tutor until November.  All staff are aware of the pupils being mentored and will update Form Tutors weekly.  After the Maths examination in November, the mentoring will be offered to C/D borderline pupils in English.

They will have a Mock Module 3 examination at the end of this term in December 2015.  The students in Yr 11 have already completed their controlled assessment.

  25. OCR GCSE Science Homework & Testing  Pupils are set homework regularly from their Black Collins Revision Guide.
