SEAC Overview

Primary Role: To advise the School Board on unmet needs ofspecial education students.

Committee responsibilities per the Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children with Disabilities in Virginia (effective January 27, 2010; page 120 8VAC2O-81-230-D):

v Advise LCPS of needs in the education of children with disabilities;

‘ Review the policies and procedures for LCPS’s division of special

education and related services prior to submission to the LCPS School

Board;

v Participate in the development of priorities and strategies for meeting

the needs of students with disabilities;

V Submit periodic reports and recommendations regarding the education

  • f students with disabilities to the Superintendent for transmission to

the School Board;

V Assist the LCPS in interpreting plans to the community for meeting the

special needs of children with disabilities for educational services and participate in the review of LCPS’s annual plan.
