SEAC: MATSEC Applied Programme The Secondary Education Applied Certificate (SEAC) will consist of 2 ap applie lied option subjects and 4 ap applie lied core subjects : • Appl pplied d Option n Subje ubject ct 1 • Appl pplied d Option n Subje ubject ct 2 • Ma Maths hs • Ma Maltese • Eng nglish • Sci cience nce Option Subjects can be chosen by students while applied core subjects will be directed by schools.

  16. SEAC: MATSEC Applied Programme • 60% -70%school based assessment and 40%- 30% controlled summative assessment (exams). MCAST and IT ITS at level 1, 2 or 3 according to the results • Students may enter MC obtained in each of the SEAC subjects as agreed with MCAST and ITS. • Learners will also follow subjects in the other NCF learning areas. • Accredited non formal programmes such the XL Achieve programme to be included as part of the Applied Programme.

  18. SEC Academic and Vocational Routes 1. SE For learners who have decided to follow the academic route or the vocational route at post-secondary level. Learners will retain the possibility of choosing both academic and vocational option subjects. Learners may further their studies at Junior College, MCAST, Higher Secondary, ITS and institutions others according to entry requirements

  19. SEAC Applied Route 2. SE For learners who are clearly set on furthering their studies at post secondary level specifically at MCAST and ITS. For learners who would also benefit by linking th the c e cor ore su e subjec ects ts to an applied and relevant context. Students will be able to achieve up to MQF level 3 in both applied option and applied core subjects .

  20. 3. SE /SEC Route SEAC/SE The possibility of flexibility to the system will be introduced A student may choose some combinations from the SEC and SEAC routes according to the possibilities offered by each College.

  22. Option choice Year 8 All students will be given a booklet on which to indicate their option choice. The booklet also explains the following: • All academic subjects will continue to be offered in all schools. • Vocational and Applied subjects are offered in a school according to availability of workshops. However all vocational and applied subjects will be offered to all students through the grouping of colleges into clusters. The booklet…..

Info to parents and students • School and college based preparations to continue and take place as usual. • A National Options Fair for all Year 8 students and their parents is taking place between 29 January and 2 February 2019. • Options forms distributed end of January 2019. All data to be inputted and available to MEDE by end of February 2019.
