Project Description Project Goals Establish a working relationship between Harris Corp. and RIT, in which Harris provides • real-world projects for future RIT MSD students to develop solutions for while demonstrating their technical skills and abilities Project Objectives Identify current test procedures and associated shortcomings • Decrease cycle time and contributing factors to error • Qualitatively increase effectiveness of current test procedures •
Benchmarking Thermotron S-4-2800 • Internal dimensions are 4 cubic feet. (20”W x 20”D x 20”H) Thermotron S-1.2-3200 Benchtop Environment • Part of stretch goals: This sizing is not a requirement but a nice-to-have. • Internal dimension is 1.2 cubic feet. (16”W x 11”D x 12”H) Current Processes • Currently removing internals in order to automate testing of radio internals • Test engineer is required to physically reach into the thermotron to interact with the radio (no automation) Existing Automated Test Fixtures • Elite Test Fixtures • Company based in Illinois, makes test fixtures for shock/vibration testing, as well as life cycle testing
