Successful implementation and integration of the different directives at a local level is a major shared challenge. Understanding how this can be achieved is fundamental to delivering long-term sustainable ecosystem-based management strategies. The natural environment is dependent on water to provide society with many essential benefits also known as “ecosystem services” A number of EU directives aim to protect and improve the delivery of these services.

"Help local communities and farm business in Wensleydale and Wharfedale to tackle reducing flood risk.” Funded by Princes Countryside Fund What are we doing: Providing one to one support through Natural Flood Management Farm Plans. Setting up demonstration sites Connecting flood effect communities with farmers and landowners reducing flood risk. Modelling to help direct and priorities work.
