Kisalon 2 P.S. Technical information 1/2

Water flows via a 100" dia. gravity pipeline (~1.0km), from Kisalon Reservoir W.L. 414 ÷ 424m a.s.l. to Kisalon 2 P.S. Located in a valley at a (preliminary) G.L. +283m a.s.l Suction pressure of the station range from maximum 14 bars in static mode to minimum 12 bars in dynamic mode (in the final phase). The P.S. discharges water via a 2.6m dia. steel pipe ~13.5km (partially laid in a tunnel) to Ein Karem Reservoir W.L. 542.0÷552.0m a.s.l. Pumping Units arranged in a row, in a closed/covered machine hall (17.6x85.0m), between two 100" dia. steel manifolds buried outside the building. Each Pump receives water from the suction manifold via a 64“ dia. suction pipe, equipped with an inlet butterfly valve and an electromagnetic flow-meter (installed in a dedicated pit, outside the building) Each Pump delivers water to the discharge manifold (header) through a 48" dia. discharge pipe, equipped with a non-return valve and an isolation butterfly valve.

Kisalon 2 P.S. Technical information 2/2

Machine hall equipped with an overhead travelling crane (15.0m preliminary span) for equipment erection and maintenance. The Pumping Station will be connected to the national grid (161 kV) by means of a substation, including step down transformers which will supply the Motors. All the electrical boards and equipment will be installed in an electrical building adjacent to the substation. Kisalon 2 P.S. will be built in two phases: Phase 1 (planned for 2019)- P.S. equipped with four (3+1) Pumping Units, maximum average capacity 32,000m3/h (3 parallel working units), total head of 140m (BEP) Phase 2 (planned tentatively for 2050)- P.S. equipped six Pumping Units (5+1), maximum average capacity 65,000m3/h (5 parallel working units), total head of 160m (BEP). All the data concerning Phase 2 in the technical specification are for reference information only.
