ProtoDUNE-SP ports

Outside the FC Which one of these 4 are good for FC penetration?

ProtoDUNE-SP ports

Interfere with the FC I-beams and should be avoided

ProtoDUNE-SP ports

seem doable, but

  • 1. they are quite close

to the endwall such that require shortening the 90 degree bent profiles, which may make the PE cap difficult to

  • install. If you can

shift the laser head down stream a few cm, it may clear the endwall FC

  • 2. Blocked by ground

planes, but for PD-II there is plan to shorten the ground planes?

ProtoDUNE-SP ports

These are CE ports, but can be explored. Main issue is again interference with ground planes, but there is plan for shortening them for PD- II it seems? If that is the case, these would be very desirable — need to check with CE folks on rearrangement of ports b/n CAL and CE Note for crossing tracks, one would want 2.2 & 2.4, or 2.6 & 2.8

ProtoDUNE-SP ports

Outside the FC

Would be good to explore coverage through FC gaps or side penetration Blue one: port size smaller than FD-SP , not desirable Orange one: same size as FD-SP , but currently may have a camera in it (?) and so can be swapped with the red one for laser. Only caveat: orange

  • ne is closer to

cathode and side penetration is risky, but we were not planning that anyway Use orange one for testing the dual- rotary system

Moving Forward

  • Continue to explore the port scenario in PD-SP-II
  • Started communication with PD-II point of contacts

(Serhan, Filippo) about assignment of ports and planning

  • For the purposes of laser system design development,

use the current ProtoDUNE FC/port design

  • Expect A more detailed talk from Bo in the near future on

plans for PD-SP-II FD/HV design and laser-HV interface in PD-SP-II
