Come join us for the Gothenburg Summer Regatta 2017

  • We are establishing a premier event that will attract a broad fleet of dinghy sailors from across

the Nordic region

  • Less qualifying races on regional and national level opens for a national dinghy regatta in

August

  • The event will be a two day regatta located in Gothenburg’s northern archipelago, ideal for

dinghies (2017 only for optimist)

  • With the combined forces of RÅSS and BKSS an experienced and sufficiently large

  • For sailors we offer a developing regatta where you will meet, compete and learn from other

dinghy sailors in a well organized and high quality event

We are establishing a yearly recurring dinghy regatta that:

  • Will attract a broad dinghy fleet1) from across

the Nordic region

  • Dinghy sailors will experience as developing

– the chance to learn from other experienced sailor's through coaching and lectures – the chance to compete against some the best dinghy sailors in the Nordic region

  • Will be perceived by sailors, coaches, family

and spectators as a professional and high quality event

  • Will strengthen Gotheburg’s the West Coast’s

position as a leading arena for sailing

Less qualifying races on regional and national level opens for a national dinghy regatta in August

  • Less qualifying races in 2017 than previous years and

changed directives for children creates an

  • pportunity and a need for a national regatta,

especially for optimists

  • Gothenburg and the West Coast is home for a

majority of Sweden’s sailors, but with few other recurring national dinghy regattas

  • The two organizing clubs, Rådasjöns Segelsällskap

(RÅSS) and Björlanda Kile Segelsällskap (BKSS), have vast experience of organizing and hosting large regattas on regional, national, and on international level

  • With the combined forces of RÅSS and BKSS an

experienced and sufficiently large organization can be secured for years to come

  • A two day regatta for optimists1) with the possibility

to practice the two days running up to the regatta

  • The race area will be located just outside of Björlanda

Kile (in the northern archipelago of Gothenburg) with widespread, safe and relatively protected sea environment

  • Björlanda Kile is the largest harbor in northern

Europe with plenty of space for parking, rigging and launching – allowing for a large number of sailors, coaches, family, other spectators

  • There will be plenty of space for event tents for

information, marketing, etc.

RÅSS

  • Funded in 1965
  • ~200 members
  • Located in Helenvik, Rådasjön, 10 km east
  • f Gothenburg
  • Focused on dinghy sailing
  • Organizes sailing schools, training, and

several regattas during the season, both internal for members and external for all dinghy sailors

BKSS

  • Founded in 1940
  • ~400 members of which 130 juniors
  • Located in Björlanda Kile, Hisingen, north

west of Gothenburg

  • Organizes sailing schools, training, and

regattas for both dinghies and keel boats
