  1. P ORTABLE S ANITIZATION C HAMBER M IDPOINT P RESENTATION Robertson Beauchamp, Jacob Blackburn, Lauren Kieffer, Elliot Nation, Angel Soto, Dangxian Zha March 7, 2014

  2. Overview ● Introduction ● Project Status ○ Chamber Assembly ○ Procedural Testing ○ Safety Assessment ○ Control System ● Progression Plan Jacob Blackburn 1

  3. I NTRODUCTION ● W.L. Gore & Associates ● Portable Sanitization Chamber ● Decrease bioburden levels of Bacillus CLICK TO EDIT MASTER TITLE STYLE atrophaeus ● $3,000 budget Elliot Nation 2

  4. C HAMBER A SSEMBLY - FRAME Elliot Nation 3

  5. C HAMBER A SSEMBLY Robertson Beauchamp 4

  6. C HAMBER A SSEMBLY - F OGGER & L IGHTS Robertson Beauchamp 5

  7. P ROCEDURAL T ESTING ● Three test strips with Bacillus atrophaeus ● Procedures chosen to validate sanitizing effectiveness ● Strips exposed in chamber on stand to test maximum distance Lauren Kieffer 6

  8. P ROCEDURAL T ESTING ● First Test ○ Exposure to UV without H 2 O 2 vapor ○ Five minute process ● Second Test ○ Chamber filled with H 2 O 2 vapor for one second ○ Exposed to UV for five minutes ○ Compare results to first test ● Third Test ○ Chamber filled with H 2 O 2 vapor for five seconds ○ Exposed to UV for five minutes ○ Compare to first and second test Lauren Kieffer 7

  9. S AFETY A SSESSMENT ● Fog machine gets hot during the operating ○ Add proper labels ○ Add heat shield to fog machine for safety ● Tube starts ‘melting’ as the temperature gets too hot ○ Find tube material with higher melting temperature ○ Or move fogger inside chamber ● There is a gap in the door seal ○ Softer sealing material ○ Tighten/eliminate spring on door latch Angel Soto 8

  10. C ONTROL S YSTEM ● Arduino Uno microcontroller ● Will run code and logic for automated process and user interface ● Expect to have: ○ Indicator lights ○ Time display ○ Door lock Angel Soto 9

  11. C ONTROL S YSTEM ● Current relays incompatible ○ Switch voltage greater than 5V www.allelectronics.com ● EE Consultant redirects to new relay ○ 2 Channel 5V High Level Trigger Relay Module for Arduino www.miniinthebox.com Dangxian Zha 10

  12. P ROGRESSION P LAN Dangxian Zha 11

  13. Conclusion ● With the chamber complete, extensive testing on procedure validity can commence ● Focus can now be geared towards CLICK TO EDIT MASTER TITLE STYLE addressing and complying with design requirements Jacob Blackburn 12
