Hiroshima Prefectural Library • Hiroshima Prefectural Library is located in the center of Hiroshima City. • It plays a pivotal role as a lifelong learning center in Hiroshima province, conducting research and providing valuable assistance to contribute to the cultural enrichment in the area by organizing, gathering, and disseminating library materials and information, archiving the information, and accumulating data and collections, thereby providing manifold opportunities for accessing information and fostering citizens’ reading activities.

  8. • The library introduced a set of five core objectives, including collection organizing, learning and research support, network establishment, collaborative relationship building, and reading activity promotion for youth, and the Action Plan for Fostering Children’s Reading in Hiroshima (2003) in relation to language education on its webpage, “Library Net @ Hiroshima ( raiburari net at Hiroshima ).”

In addition, the enhancement of cooperation between a wide area of networks, such as city and school libraries, prefectural and city boards of education, university academic libraries, the National Diet Library, the International Library of Children’s Literature and key library institutions overseas, is also of great value to Hiroshima Prefectural Library. As a Target User Findings ① Hiroshima Prefectural Library provides attractive, frequent information delivery from the perspective of service promotion ② Advertisements exhibiting the area’s history, celebrities, culture, and events ③ Information concerning guided library tours on how to effectively utilize library collections, facilities, and its website ④ Investigative learning guides for students. ⑤ The library’s book recommendation lists for teens is an example of an excellent and very helpful plan that invites recommendations for which books to purchase and introduce to students. ⑥ Career education related book selection is especially remarkable and invaluable to teenagers.
