‘A well hidden issue’: A 2013 Monash City Council research project explored the impacts of Electronic Gaming Machine gambling.

• The research identified community groups and vulnerable

suburbs most at risk, particularly Clayton.

Who are most at risk from gambling harm in Monash?

• People of Asian backgrounds (especially young people)
• International Students
• People from low socio-economic backgrounds
• Older people experiencing social isolation
• Restaurant workers
• People with mental health issues/other addictions
• Trades and manual labour workers (especially shift

workers)

• Young males who play football and cricket

$2.2 million available for projects targeting vulnerable communities and groups where the risk factors for developing issues with gambling are highest.
