National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is a law written to analyze, disclose, minimize and mitigate environmental impacts for federally funded projects. NEPA’s basic policy requires applicable federal agencies to review impacts and mitigation measures. The review of potential impacts and mitigation measures will be documented in an Environmental Assessment (EA).

Potential Study Outcomes This study has two potential outcomes: • Proposed Build Alternative • No Build Alternative • The No Build Alternative is the “do nothing” alternative. • It is the condition that would exist if the proposed project is not built. • The No Build Alternative provides the study team a basis against which potential impacts of the proposed project can be measured.
