Focus on Learning

– Rigor, Alignment, Curriculum, and Commitment Curriculum Council - met on October 4, November 1 (3 hours each)

  • Established “State of Curriculum in District 58”
  • Read, researched and discussed curriculum development and organizational

change

  • First target: Short term (3-4 years) timeline for curriculum development -

anticipating recommendation at Dec 12 meeting

Professional Learning Council - met on November 8, December 6

  • Reviewed current offerings in District 58, current and anticipated needs for

professional learning for teachers

  • Initial discussions on ways to capture additional time for professional learning with

minimal instructional impact

Instructional Model Review Council - newly forming

  • 1.2.b - “Evaluate the implementation and outcomes of instructional programming

and delivery models”

  • Plan to meet 4 times between February-May to provide input to the Facility

Planning Council from the instructional/educational lens

  • Communications Feedback Council (Nov. 6, Dec. 4)

  • Review of internal & external communications
  • Review of external exemplars
  • Review of opportunities for feedback
  • Identification of gaps & initial ideas for improvement

Resources Review Council (Oct. 1, Oct. 23, Nov. 12, Dec. 10)

  • Review of staffing allocations & rationale
  • Development of vision/definition of “equitable” and metrics

Securing Our Future

  • Facilities, and Finance

Facility Planning Council (FPC), a 20+ member group of staff and community members has met three times in September, October, and November.

  • FPC developed a timeline to develop a master facility plan and present it

to the Board of Education.

  • FPC has kicked off the master facility planning process with visioning

sessions for staff and community as part of early stages of the facility planning.

  • Visioning sessions are underway with staff at all buildings.
  • Walkthroughs of buildings is underway to review educational Alignment
  • f buildings which includes FPC members and building representatives.

FPC meets December 18 to review and update timeline.
