The percentage of students scoring Proficient or Advanced in Science will increase from 47.3% to 60% by the end of the 2014-15 school year as measured by the MAP assessment administered in the Spring of 2015. ¡
Currently: ¡ ¡6th ¡Grade ¡= ¡Physical ¡Science ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡7th ¡Grade ¡= ¡Life ¡Science ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡ 8th ¡Grade ¡= ¡Earth ¡Science ¡ Late ¡1990’s ¡thru ¡early ¡2000’s ¡each ¡grade ¡level ¡taught ¡a ¡little ¡of ¡each ¡ subject ¡since ¡the ¡MAP ¡test ¡was ¡given ¡in ¡the ¡7th ¡grade. ¡ Changed ¡to ¡specific ¡grade ¡level ¡subjects ¡when ¡the ¡MAP ¡test ¡was ¡ changed ¡to ¡be ¡given ¡in ¡the ¡8th ¡grade. ¡ ¡

¡ ▪ ¡Allowed ¡fewer ¡books ¡to ¡be ¡purchased ¡since ¡we ¡didn’t ¡have ¡to ¡have ¡all ¡of ¡ the ¡different ¡content ¡area ¡sets ¡for ¡every ¡teacher. ¡
6th ¡Grade ¡= ¡Earth ¡Science ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡7th ¡Grade ¡= ¡Life ¡Science ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡8th ¡Grade ¡= ¡Physical ¡Science ¡ Data ¡behind ¡change: ¡ ¡ ▪ ¡ ¡The ¡MAP ¡test ¡is ¡typically ¡heavy ¡with ¡physical ¡science ¡questions ¡so ¡we ¡want ¡it ¡ to ¡be ¡taught ¡closer ¡to ¡the ¡testing ¡time ¡ ¡ ▪ ¡ ¡FHS ¡does ¡not ¡take ¡a ¡10th ¡grade ¡MAP ¡science ¡test ¡as ¡of ¡the ¡last ¡few ¡years, ¡so ¡it ¡ is ¡not ¡necessary ¡to ¡have ¡Earth ¡Science ¡in ¡the ¡8th ¡grade ¡ ¡
