FMS Rules

  • The False Codling Moth Management System(FMS)

provides for risk management of FCM at several

  • stages. PhytClean is used to ensure compliance

with the FCM rules.

  • Citrus FMS applies to all Citrus fruits except for

lemons and key limes

Orchard Sanitation

  • Orchard sanitation is an important component of

GAP for FCM management

  • Orchard sanitation entails the collection and

removal of dropped fruit and hanging fruit, which show signs of damage or infestation.

  • Every 4 weeks PhytClean will require a

reconfirmation that these sanitation practices have been maintained on each orchard.

SLIDE 6

Fruit Infestation Monitoring

  • Capture the total number of infested fruits per
  • rchard onto PhytClean, not the total number of

the FCM themselves.

  • The FMS PUC Dashboard also lists the correct

number of data sets (each set of 5 data trees) that are required per orchard

Fruit Infestation Monitoring Data Capture Orchard Statuses

  • NOT STARTED: Default at the start of the season. No records have been captured
  • n PhytClean.
  • DUE: 16 weeks before harvest monitoring should start as suggested under the

FMS, the status changes to DUE, unless monitoring has already begun.

  • COMPLIANT: FCM Infestation Monitoring was initiated at least 12 weeks before

harvest and quality of data are enough.

  • LATE START: Monitoring begun too late (for example less than 12 weeks before
  • harvest. Potentially can be corrected if the harvest date is adjusted).
  • INTERVAL ISSUE: The interval between assessment dates is greater than 10 days

in at least one case.

  • NOT REQUIRED: Not required as “CONFIRMED C” has been selected.
  • INSUFFICIENT DATA: Over the monitoring period there were not enough data

points to be confident that monitoring has taken place effectively. Currently, PhytClean flags records outside 12 weeks before harvest as insufficient data which will be looked at.

Treatment

  • If the threshold is exceeded(number of infested

fruit per data tree per week) then a treatment needs to be applied.

  • A list of treatments are available on PhytClean. If

you find that a treatment you want to use is not there please contact the FSA team

First PHC Delivery Inspection

  • The packhouse is required to register with DALRRD

and on PhytClean

  • A fruit must be recorded as infested, if a live or

dead FCM larva is found in the fruit

  • Please Note: When the FMS PDI is due, the FFMS

PDI must be done at the same time, using the same fruit sample

slide-12
SLIDE 12

Later PHC Delivery Inspection

  • This becomes due 21 days after the First PDI is

done

  • The Later PDI must be repeated for any orchard

where harvesting continues for more than 4 weeks after the First PDI.
