Furniture Selection Criteria

Considerations

» Should all general classrooms have the same “kit of parts”? » What level of student choice is appropriate?

– Are there multiple types of seating in each room? Just one with additional

  • ption(s) for breakout/group?

» How will we accommodate differing student needs?

– Physical: height differences, accessibility, etc. – Learning Styles – Flexibility/mobility

» What role does 1:1 technology play in furniture selection? » How can furniture support curriculum?

– STEM / STEAM, Flipped Classroom, etc…

» Different teaching styles » Flexibility for future

– The more specialized furniture is, the less flexible it becomes for changes in subject matter, curriculum, etc.
