SLIDE 31 School Engagement Program
- West Gate Kids is the school engagement program of the
West Gate Tunnel Project
- Targeting schools in Melbourne’s west
- Created for primary and secondary students aged 10 to
14
- West Gate Kids links directly to the school curriculum
and promotes the study of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) subjects.
- Promotes real-world learning, using challenges from the
projectas a basis for its activities.

- Sessions are delivered by award winning scientist Dr Lorien
Parker of SciencePlay Kids.
- Students are immersed in the world of science via a variety
- f hands-on experiments related to how cities work,
involving electricity circuits, bridges, tunnels and more.
- To date 776 students have been engaged in 10 schools.
- By the end of 2019, West Gate Kids expects to have
engaged over 1000 students across 15 primary and secondary schools in the western suburbs.
Delivery and Statistics
SLIDE 33 CLG members are invited to attend a 90-minute West Gate Kids session and watch Dr Loz and the kids in action as they enjoy the ‘Engineering our City’ program at the project Info Centre.

- When: 3 sessions are likely - spread throughout the
