Day 1 –April 12th New SAT Test - Essay

Students will read a passage and then explain how the author builds an argument to persuade an audience. Students must support their explanation with evidence from the passage.

The Prompt – Practice in English Class

As you read the passage below, consider how [the author] uses

  • evidence, such as facts or examples, to support claims.
  • reasoning to develop ideas and to connect claims and evidence.
  • stylistic or persuasive elements, such as word choice or appeals to

National Career Readiness Certificates

WorkKeys is a program recognized by employers and education entities nationwide. WorkKeys assessment results and certificates can help individuals find job opportunities wherever they live. Various occupations require specific levels of performance on the three tests. Individuals who score at certain levels (7 is the highest)

  • n the three WorkKeys assessments will qualify for a

coded skill level certificate.

Bronze – score at least a level 3 in each of the three tests.

Qualified for 35% of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.

Silver – score at least a level 4 in each of the three tests.

Qualified for 60% of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.

Gold – score at least a level 5 in each of the three tests.

Qualified for 90% of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.

HIGHEST LEVEL! Platinum – score at least a level 6 in each of the three tests.

Qualified for 99% of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.

The Certificate can be verified by employers for up to five years from the issue date.

You can select Science or Social Studies. Once on the sign in page, use the username and password displayed on the screen to log in.

English and Math teachers have been having students utilize the Khan Academy site for help and practice. All juniors were given a tour of the site and information about the free phone app from the SAT site.
