Program Mission ➢ To provide interested students with the opportunity to engage in authentic and original research. ➢ To foster exploration, creative thinking, and problem solving skills. ➢ To promote cooperative learning and teamwork. ➢ To guide students through the authentic research process as they prepare their research results for submission into local and national science competitions, scholarship programs, grant proposals, patent applications, and research publications.
Student Research Process ➢ Research interest exploration. ➢ Research topic selection. ➢ Literature review of previously conducted research related to student topic. ➢ Research project / experimental design. ➢ Data collection and analysis. ➢ Preparation of final research products.
Current Student Projects ➢ Pedal-powered refrigeration system ➢ Wind turbine blade geometry evaluation ➢ Arachnid diet and effects on silk production ➢ New Research Students: ○ Oxybenzone and its effects on Coral Reef Bleaching ○ Master any pitch by practicing hitting a particular spot on a softball bat
