Fi Finally… ll  There will be many parallel sessions: sessions that all go one at the same time in different rooms, you’ll want to check out a few of them in your field when you’re not presenting, but don’t feel like you have to you re not presenting, but don t feel like you have to fill up every minute of your time going to talks…there’s lots of networking and socializing to do as well and you’ll need to take some down time do as well, and you ll need to take some down time occasionally as well. 2/22/2012 Meetings 9

Goals for Future of Physics Days  To provide experiences for undergraduates at meetings which will  To provide experiences for undergraduates at meetings which will serve to inform and inspire them about physics careers.  To create an opportunity for students to present their research in a pp y p supportive, constructive environment, and to foster a sense of community at the meetings.  To encourage students to learn about current research in physics  To encourage students to learn about current research in physics and related fields.  To provide professional development resources for students who p p p are thinking about the next steps in their degree and/or career path. Future of Physics Days Events FPD Travel Support  FPD Basic Travel Awards i l d ― $200 support level All presenting students are eligible ―  FPD Scholar Travel Awards $1000 support level ($500 from APS with matching $500 from student’s department) ― To qualify, student must: ― Present at the meeting h ― Submit a statem ent of need (signed by their research mentor) ― Submit a statem ent of m atching (signed by their department chair or research mentor) ― Submit a report following the meeting detailing their future goals, meeting experiences, and g g g g g p ― p information about why they got interested in physics.
