 Full protection of Jabuka Pit (including longliners) + a larger area managed through rotation of fishing boats  Protection of the coastal zone up to 6 miles + management of the fishing activity after the trawling ban (reduction of fishing days in order to avoid market saturation and keep prices stable). Specific regulations are needed to avoid the issuing of exclusive rights to fish within the 6 miles.  Anticipation of the biological ban to June and July to protect cephalopods with high economic value.  Protection of the refuge area “Zona Barbare”  Protection of the area North of Ancona important for the reproduction of sole and the spiny dogfish (spinarolo)

SUGGESTED MANAGEMENT MEASURES

Ma.Mol.Ab. request: establishment of a technical-scientific table

  • f researchers and fishers to develop joint fisheries management

ISSUES AND NEXT ACTIVITIES

 Issues:

  • Partners’ help needed to spread the questionnaire to local fishers in case studies – if

deemed useful.  Next Activities

  • Multi-stakeholders workshops at each case study – to be organised depending on

partners need;

  • Intro meeting in Croatia May – June 2017
  • Collect more management suggestions? 1 more meeting per case study in 2017.

Ma.Mol.Ab interested to meet again. Chioggia?

  • Share and evaluate scenarios with stakeholders : as soon as scenarios are developed,1

meeting per case study

  • Communication support to WP6:
  • Press release to be developed in correpondance of next workshop/meeting
  • Posting on meetings/results n WWF Italy FB – to be shared among FB pages of all

partners
