Introduction

  • In India, rivers and aquatic eco‐systems have been very much degraded by a variety of human

disturbances, Hindu’s myths and activities.

  • There is an urgent need for developing rational adaptation strategies, To minimize the adverse

impacts of climate change and attaining its sustainable management.

  • The pressure on water resources in India will further increase soon for three main reasons.
  • 1. The increase in population expected by 2050.
  • 2. Rapid urbanization and economic growth will increase the demand for water, reducing the

water available for agriculture.

  • 3. To sing hymns in praise of the goddess. Pollution threatens not only humans but also aquatic

eco‐system.
