Why is Vancouver Co-op Radio Important?

• Gives voice to the community, especially in the DTES.
• Supports local media creators and grassroots media.
• Provides an opportunity for people to produce their own shows.
• Independent voices from a large variety of people.
• It serves as an important role in our community.
• Discover new music/artists.
• Independent radio - love the music, talk shows and opinions.
• Inclusiveness.
• Radical, grassroots, eclectic, funky!
• It’s a community driven co-op.

How can we improve?

• Invite famous people from the Art, Political and Health sectors.
• Programming for Children run by Children.
• Partner with schools like VanArts and Langara to provide an outlet for aspiring

broadcasters.

• More current affairs programs around issues relating to persons with

disabilities.

• More community events and partnerships with other co-ops and
• rganizations.
• More Hip-hop, Rap, etc.
• A show on science and nature. Some dramatic radio plays.
• Bring back local Mon-Fri 7am news program.
