WHAT IS EMS? Pre-clinical – 12 weeks including 2 weeks each in equine, beef, dairy, sheep Clinical – 24 weeks of seeing practice in vet practices including 4 weeks small animal, 4 weeks large animal, 2 weeks of equine with a week in a meat plant Both can be done Internationally – at your own costs Useful experience of seeing cases ‘live’ and valuable to have some ‘hands-on’ experience outside the classroom. A lot of students have taken up jobs from practices that they have been too as a student.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

  • Undergraduate students applying through the CAO system will be required to

demonstrate that they have acquired at least 60 hours practical experience relevant to animal handling between 1 February, 2018, and 31st July, 2021.

  • This must include experience with at least two of the following four animal

categories:

  • Pets
  • Horses
  • Farm Animals
  • Wildlife/Zoos
  • Animal categories will only be considered if you have a minimum of 5 hours

experience.
