PROJECT UPDATE

VESTAS UPDATE 11

  • A new site entry will be constructed on the straight heading east prior to the right hand

turn at the top of Pahiatua Track highway.

  • This entry is designed to allow construction vehicles and personnel safe access by a

designated turning bay into the Construction Site and ensure Community and Public have safe travel through.

  • Traffic Management will be in place during construction to ensure safety for

Construction Personnel, Community and Public while this activity is being undertaken.

  • A secondary Construction access point will be constructed on the east side of

Pahiatua track road at the bottom of the range. This access point is primarily for the delivery of blades to the project. 55metres in length and transport/construction vehicles travelling in a East to West direction. (Napier to Palmerston North) This will be gated/locked construction access road to prevent unauthorised vehicles entering and exiting.

PROJECT UPDATE

SOUTH RANGE ROAD 14

South Range Road Upgrade:

  • The South Range Road is defined as the spine of the project as all access to wind

turbines are predominantly from this road.

  • The road will be straightened, widened with new culverts and base materials to allow

for transport of major equipment to project from new access road/s to approximately 1km past the gate into the Turitea reserve.

  • The road is an integral part also for operations and maintenance of the wind farm and

will also be a safer public road access road for community at completion of construction.

WORKS ON GREENS ROAD

Greens Road is used to access poles 9 onward, the Browns Flat staging area and most of the

  • Towers. Consent conditions requires specified upgrades to this road.

The upgrades require engineering design, a report to council, then the upgrade works can

  • ccur.

Local companies GHD and Stringfellows will be completing the design and build work and will be engaged to ensure the road is kept swept and any ongoing maintenance is identified. – Road condition survey - complete – Engineering design - underway – Traffic management plan – underway – inputs please – Boundary survey - August – Kahuterawa Rd (line of sight improvements) - August/September – Tree removal (Greens Rd) - September – Earthworks - September – Sealing and culverts - September weather permitting

PUBLIC FEEDBACK ON TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN

> Drivers should be aware that Turitea road is part of the Te Araroa Trail and is heavily used by walkers, runners and cyclists. > The first 2kms includes a short steep narrow set of sharp bends where there is no footpath, pavement, hard shoulder, soft shoulder or space of any kind, plus a one-way bridge. > Request to include some building work to provide new cycle and walking path so drivers are not sharing that bit of narrow road with those on foot or bike. > A couple of mirrors on the tight bends on Turitea Road would provide improved visibility. Feedback passed on to PNCC's Traffic Management Consultant for consideration as part of Plan review and certification.
