  1. Transcript arrival  Transcripts are received in many ways. The most popular delivery is electronic these days.  Some are mailed directly to the Office of Admissions and others are hand-carried. Those which are hand-carried, must be official and in a sealed envelope from the institution.  After each official transcript is imaged, it’s then moved into the TC workflow.

  2. Processing….  Staff enter coursework to the student’s Banner record.  Next is the articulation of transfer credit. Many courses are frequently transferred into SIUE, thus are in our data base. For those which are less frequent, a manual evaluation may be necessary.

  3. How do we evaluate the credit? Credit is evaluated to determine its equivalency to: • SIUE course • ENGL 131 (Lewis & Clark CC) = ENG 101 (SIUE) • SIUE general education requirement • HUM 101 (John Wood CC) = TRF 1xx/BHUM (SIUE) • SIUE elective credit • PE 118 (STLCC) = KIN 1xx (SIUE)

  4.  Once the record is complete with all course work evaluated…the staff looks for repeated courses.  If duplicates are found the process is to exclude older attempt and include the most recent.  Degree Audits are utilized to determine general education requirements during processing.

  5. Course Equivalency Guide (CEG) • Go to the transfer website (siue.edu/transfer) and find “How will courses transfer (CEG )?” • Select your state and institution • Groups listed at beginning. Groups indicate if more than one course needs to be taken for course transfer.

  6. Course Equivalency Guide (CEG) • Select your state, institution and subject area • Definition = An attribute represents how the course will transfer to meet SIUE’s general education and graduation requirements. • If the institution not listed? CALL US? We will HELP!

  8. A few additional Transfer Center tasks • Evaluate regionally accredited institution credit posted on an official college transcript • Transfer Center provides NCAA eligibility certification for student athletes. • Military transcripts and AP/CLEP/IB credit are processed through the Transfer Center. • We also process Prospective Student Evaluations, Re-Evaluations, CAPP substitutions, Senior with Degree forms, BA/BS Intellectual area requirements, IAI General Education Core Curriculum requirements.
