Useful in outreach, to conduct dialogues on options

to address gaps, including on assistance that could be provided by IGOs/IROs, as well as by other States

Practices

Part VI and Annex XVI of the Report, but also practices found use useful for implementing resolution 1540:

  • Identification of across-government or inter-

departmental communication processes

  • Awareness raising of:

existing measures that States have undertaken, existing work with International organizations

and entities (eg, guidelines and/or assistance) as also relevant where appropriate for implementing resolution 1540

Lessons Learned /

Observations / experience shared

Build assistance on or into other priorities (final

document of Comprehensive Review): eg, into development; public health modernization; environmental protection; transport, storage of toxic chemicals related to CWC; hazardous waste

If requestors have other priorities onto which 1540

assistance can be built – consider if similar situation for providers, many of whom already providing assistance for similar but other mandates, and now beginning to ‘label’ as also relevant for res. 1540
