ambition!)

slide-63
SLIDE 63

Need to know: Language

  • Two exams, no set texts
  • Reading and writing sections in both exam papers
  • What does this mean and how can I succeed?
  • Assesses your ability to read and understand
  • The best way to practise is by reading widely and regularly
  • Significant overlap with literature skills – one paper is fiction
  • Value accuracy – worth 32 out of 80 in the writing sections!
  • Read, read, read
slide-64
SLIDE 64

Need to know: Literature

  • Four texts, closed book exam
  • What does this mean?
  • Deep understanding of the texts – read and re-read
  • More than a memory test – but your memory will be tested!
  • How can I succeed?
  • Buy the texts – no better revision aid
  • Create revision materials: terminology banks, quotation banks etc.
  • Use these to start learning – now
  • Access – GCSE Literature will give access to college – it is as

important as Language
