Why is Data important

  • Data is a powerful tool used for improving student learning, guiding

professional development and measuring progress.

  • Effective use of data ensures appropriate accountability, guide resource

allocation, and ensure every child learns.

SLIDE 3

The Way Data is Used

  • The new Every Student Succeed Acts (ESSA) requirements examine school-level reporting of

data on student progress, resource allocation, and spending. These data measures form the basis for goals and related actions to remediate within-district inequities across school sites.

  • School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA) are aligned to the District’s Local Control

Accountability Plan (LCAP) and use school-level data to report on progress. This information is used to examine District-wide practices, with the vision of improving transparency and teaching and learning conditions.
