PURPOSE OF GRANTS

To provide monetary assistance to elementary, middle or high school students in the areas of music, theater arts or visual arts. These grants are for artistic activities and/or equipment for the students or school where other funding is unavailable. In addition, these grants are to be used to provide artistic activities where the greatest number of students can be involved.

2019/2020 GRANT REQUESTS AND AWARDS

Grant applications were sent to 36 area schools in October 2019 12 completed applications were received with grant requests totaling $22,638 Grants totaling $15,000 were awarded to these schools:

  • Alta Vista Elementary (Haines City): $1,250 – Purchase new risers for

performing arts.

  • Bellalago Academy (Poinciana): $1,250 – Purchase music room Orff

carts for moving instruments.

  • Bellalago Academy (Poinciana): $750 – Funding for Drama Dept. to

participated in Junior Thespians program.

  • Bethune Academy (Haines City): $1,500 – Funding for the East Area Music

Festival including Music Days, Recorder Days and Uke Days.

  • Boone Middle School (Haines City): $1,090 – Grant to pay for transportation

costs for Symphonic Band to visit and perform at elementary schools in order to entertain and recruit future band members.

  • Deerwood Elementary School (Kissimmee): $1,250 - Funding for “Strum it

Up” program with ukuleles.

  • Discovery Intermediate School (Poinciana): $1,500 – Funds to pay for repairs

and supplies for donated instruments.

  • Lake Marion Creek Middle School (Poinciana): $1,500 – Purchase instruments

and supplies for band program.

  • Liberty High School (Poinciana): $1,250 – Funding to repair and update

band instruments.

theater department to school and produce spring musical.

production of “Clue – The Musical.”

As an annual project, the Poinciana Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) Dance Company had another successful year, even though it was cut short by the pandemic. Fortunately, the school’s most important performance was presented on February 7, 2020 at Liberty High School, only a month before our country was shut

  • down. The success of this show relied on funds received from the

Solivita Performing Arts Council. Over 100 young dancers had the

  • pportunity to shine wearing beautiful themed ballet costumes

and accessories purchased from the monies received. Annmarie Morin, Dance Teacher
