Bioassessment 2019 Expanded Dissolved Oxygen Monitoring

  • Multi-parameter probes were set at 7 sites from Burr Ridge up to

Willow Creek, 6 in main stem, one in Willow Creek.

  • 4-5 day deployment of DO meters at 7 sites based on weather
  • Benthic chlorophyll a samples were be collected
  • 2 rounds of expanded nutrient sampling were collected while DO

probes were deployed

  • This was completed with a combination of MBI and TCF staff

  • Due to high water conditions in

2018, 4 stations were not completed for fish

  • LDG19, LDG20, LDG21 & LDG22

were resampled for fish in 2019

  • Chemistry was collected at LDG19,

LDG21 and LDG22

  • This additional sampling was

covered from cost savings in 2018

The Connection Between Leaves and Water Quality:

  • As it rains, phosphorus quickly leaches out of leaves, causing several

problems for local waterways.

This Fall, Use Leaves as a Resource:

  • Leaves don’t have to be a nuisance! Residents can use leaves to fertilize their

lawns and gardens or participate in leaf collection programs.

The Effects of Leaves on Storm Drains:

  • Leaves can cause trouble for homeowners, stormwater systems, and water

quality when they collect in storm drains.
