Tonight: Discussion on 2 Key Areas of RBI, (Risk Based Inspection):
Paper 1 - PSVs are classed as safety critical when protecting hydrocarbon containing equipment, even on non-hazardous services they are always safety related. Pressure Safety Valve RBI will be discussing how using large volumes of data (0.5 Billion Hrs) can be used to shape an effective RBI strategy. Paper 2 - For FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) cargo tanks the main degradation threats are fatigue cracking and corrosion / coating degradation. This presentation gives an overview
threats and how they may be used to develop an optimized inspection schedule.

Speaker 1: PSV’s – Dr Chris Bell is a Senior Consultant in the UK Digital Innovation team at DNV-GL (Aberdeen). Chris has a PhD background in Material Science and holds a Masters degree is in Physics and Applied Mathematics and he is particularly interested in projects using new methods, materials
Chris’s focus is on helping assets process and make sense of data to help assets make better informed decisions going forward.

Speaker 2: FPSO Cargo Tanks - Dr Madhu Parlapalli is a Senior Consultant at DNV-GL (Aberdeen). He primarily focuses on the Life Extension of Semi-subs, Fixed structures and Pipelines, Technology Qualification (TQ) as per DNV-RP-203 and API RP 17N, Risk Based Inspection (RBI) studies, Development of Structural Integrity Management Systems (SIMS), Fitness for Service (FFS) and Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) of pipelines. Prior to joining in DNV GL, Dr. Parlapalli has worked as Post-Doctorate Fellow at University of Twente – The Netherlands, in the areas of Self-healing of composite materials by using shape memory alloy (SMA) wires. He is a graduate of DNV GL's prestigious TopTech 5 program conducted by University of Berkeley - USA in 2012/13.
