EWSETA PROFILE

The Energy and Water Services Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) is one of 21 SETA’s established in terms of Section 9 of the Skills Development Act, 97 of 1998, as amended & reports to the Honourable Minister of the Department of Higher Education & Training EWSETA was one of the SETA’s re-licensed in 2011 for a further period of 5 years until 2016 Our mandate is to anticipate, build & manage the skills development and training needs of the energy and water services sector through strategic skills planning within the context of the NSDS III

Establish a governance and management system within the EWSETA to appropriately manage all resources and ensure sustainable and reliable organisational performance and compliance

  • 2. Addressing the skills shortage within the Energy and Water Services Sector

Address the skills shortage in the E&W sector through PIVOTAL programmes and establishment of a credible institutional mechanism

  • 3. A sustainable socio-economic development plan for informal sector including

SMMEs

Engage with SMMEs, Trade Unions. NGOs and community-based organisations and identify skills needs and strategies to support sustainable economic development in rural, township and other relevant partners in energy and water services
