  4. Preform Mould Manufacturing Practices Stack Parts & Hot Runner Components- ◦ Cores, Neck Rings, Cavities & Gate Inserts are manufactured exclusively using Bohler-Uddeholm's Stavax ESR Supreme (Corrosion resistant martensitic stainless steel) steel. ◦ Stack parts are rough machined, stress relieved & vacuum hardened to 50-52 Rockwell by Bohler-Uddeholm. ◦ Final dimensions are machined only after hardening to nullify any changes in dimensions during hardening. ◦ All mating surfaces (tapers and faces) are cylindrical / surface ground for high precision and long life. ◦ Manufacturing is conducted in a temperature controlled room. ◦ Components are measure in-process by work-probing systems. ◦ Components are measured post process by highly precise measuring instruments & gauges in a temperature controlled (standard) room. ◦ Tolerances on critical dimensions is maintained within +/- 3 microns. Mould Base Plates- ◦ Mould base plates, hot runner manifold & backing plates are rough machined and stress relieved before finish machining. This is to ensure that dimensions do not change over time. ◦ At PETform, finish sizing & boring is done by super precision jig boring class machines and never by general precision CNC machining centers. ◦ In process gauging is used for eliminating probability of errors and holding close tolerances. ◦ All plates are inspected on CMMs, in temperature controlled (standard) rooms before assembly.

  5. Quality Control / Assurance ◦ Inspection takes place in an environmentally controller room (temperature is controlled at 25ºC +/- 1 ºC) ◦ Critical dimensions of every component is measured to ensure tolerances are maintained within prescribed limits

Machine T ools in Factory ◦ SIP Jig Borer with travel size of 1,500 mm x 1,000 mm x 1,000 mm ◦ Mitsui-Seiki Jig Borer 4-Axis Horizontal Machining Center with travel size of 850 mm x 700 mm x 750 mm ◦ BFW 4-Axis CNC Machining Center with travel size of 600 mm x 400 mm x 400 mm ◦ Mori-Seiki CNC Turn-Mill Center ◦ Hardinge CNC Turning Center ◦ LMW CNC Turning Center ◦ Micromatic CNC Turning Center ◦ Boehringer Copy Lathe ◦ Chevalier Surface Grinder ◦ Micromatic Universal Cylindrical Grinder x 2 ◦ Charmilles CNC EDM ◦ Electronica CNC EDM ◦ Various conventional machines for drilling, milling and turning ◦ CMM ’ s & other QC / Inspection equipment

  7. Preform Mould T esting PETform can test moulds of up to 96 cavities. The machines we have at our disposal are: ◦ 1 x Husky GL300 ◦ 1 x Husky XL225 ◦ 1 x Husky LX160 ◦ 1 x Krauss Maffei KM175

  9. Innovation for moulding thick walled preforms PETform has developed a unique solution for moulding preforms with wall thicknesses from 6 to12 mm, wherein the preform is de-molded from the cavity but remains on a second core set for one complete machine cycle, and is then transferred to a cooling tube where it cools for two machine cycles. This allows the preform to be de-molded significantly earlier without suffering shrinkage, and complete its cooling outside the cavity in cooled aluminum tubes, shortening the machine cycle time significantly . One application for this moulding solution is the production of returnable 5 USG / 20 L preforms. With this solution one is able to mould 630-720 gm preforms, with a wall thickness of 9.5 mm+, under a cycle time of 80 seconds on a standard injection moulding machine. As this application suffers from a very low throughput vs. shot size T ypical applications for this ratio, the dwell time of the melt is very high, resulting in material degradation. With the shorter cycle time of under 80 sec (vs. 130 to 140 solution includes production of sec on conventional systems) dwell time is reduced by at least 40% and preforms for beer kegs, 3 USG the extent of material degradation is curbed significantly . returnable containers as well as preforms for 5, 12, 15 & 20 L The resulting bottle blown from 630-650 gm performs, with the original one way containers. properties of the resin being better preserved, enjoys more cycles vs bottles blown from 700-720 gm preforms made from competing systems.

  10. Principles & Objectives Quality Means providing our customers with products that meet or exceed their expectations and specifications. Quality is not "relative". It is the best that modern science and technology can deliver. Service Means treating our customers with courtesy and competency . Delivery Times Need to be kept as short as possible. Technical Competence Is continually improved by providing our engineers and specialists with constant training. Only through regular engagement with modern technological developments can we guarantee that our employees keep their knowledge up-to-date. Prices Our prices are a fair reflection of the value of our systems and components. We put a great deal of emphasis on maintaining this relationship. If prices rose relative to value it would burden our customers, if prices fell it would inhibit our ability to continue innovating and providing service to our customers.

  11. Used PET Equipment T rading Business As a manufacturer of preform and blow moulds with a global customer base we also facilitate our clients to source used PET equipment in good condition or sell their surplus equipment. When PET equipment changes hands, either completely new tooling is required or there is a requirement for converting the tool and this becomes a path for us to gain more mould business and customers. Please visit www.PETequip.net for details on equipment we currently have for sale
