SYNOPSI S

The National Housing Authority of Zambia is a body corporate established by an Act of Parliament to promote development and control of housing and commercial properties throughout the Country. Re-development of unplanned settlements is

  • ne of the key responsibilities of NHA.

I n this project, about 50,000 squatters who are currently occupying 230 hectares of prime land will be grouped and re-housed in multi-storey accommodation (12,500 units) complete with requisite amenities on 40

  • hectares. This will free 190 hectares of this

prime land for commercial and industrial use. The freed land will be serviced and sold on the open market to service the concessionary loan being applied for herewith. 12,500 flats, roads, water and sewerage will cost about US $ 560 Million. The flats will be

  • ffered to squatters at a service fee of US $

10 per month. Newly created commercial and industrial plots will be sold to recoup the initial investment.
