What is SEA 217? • Indiana legislation effective July 1, 2019 • Mandates all school districts: – Screen students for characteristics of dyslexia – Provide interventions for identified students – Have an authorized reading specialist trained in dyslexia – Report information to IDOE yearly – Provide teachers with professional awareness of dyslexia • IDOE will provide professional awareness
